Wrigleyville

Wrigleyville is a lively neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, affectionately named after the Chicago Cubs’ ballpark — which is housed in the area. The location, which has its own CTA stop on the Red Line, is a hotspot for fervent sports fans and young professionals alike. The area boasts a wide array of bar options along Clark, Addison and Sheffield in front of the backdrop of the iconic “Friendly Confines,” which hosts 81 regular-season games every year.

But if bars and baseball aren’t your thing, fear not, as Wrigleyville also features music venues like the Metro, which has previously showcased artists such as Smashing Pumpkins, Fall Out Boy and Chance the Rapper. If you’re looking for a laugh, head over to the Crowd Theater near the intersection of Halsted and Irving Park to enjoy some “legendary hot wings” and improv comedy. Burger joints and pizza parlors abound. And, if you want to enjoy the open air, it’s an easy walk or bike ride east to Lake Michigan.

Parking can be hard to come by in the neighborhood, so public transportation is usually your best bet. In addition to the Chicago’s famous “El” (short for elevated) train, look to utilize the CTA’s bus system to maneuver through Wrigleyville, with popular options including the #22 Clark bus —  about a 25-minute ride from the Loop — and the #152 Addison, which makes stops at three different train lines. If you prefer to get around on your own power, there are several Divvy stations (an affordable bike share system) located at regular intervals throughout the area.
